New Delhi: The Supreme Court Thursday reserved its verdict on an appeal filed by the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group challenging the contracts given to two private consortiums to modernise the airports in Delhi and Mumbai.
Reliance Airports Developers Ltd had appealed to the apex court challenging the earlier order of the Delhi High Court that upheld the government's decision to award the bids to the GMR consortium for Delhi and the GVK group for Mumbai.
Reliance sought to challenge the contracts on the ground that the parameters for the technical bids were lowered at the last moment, which went against the terms and conditions of the bid parameters.
A bench of judges Arijit Pasayat and S.H. Kapadia was examining the procedures followed in lowering the earlier standards as well as on what basis a decision was taken to give the winning bidder the choice of selecting an airport.
The bench reserved judgement at the conclusion of marathon arguments from the counsels for the petitioners - the central government, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), GMR Infrastructure and GVK Industries.
