Air Deccan opens Ahmedabad airport’s maiden aircraft base. Ahmedabad will be the airline’s 8th base and first in the state of Gujarat. The existing 7 bases of the airline being in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and the most recently added , Trivandrum.
An airline base usually consists of aircraft being deployed at the station with all the engineering and operational support for the airlines, including engineering & maintenance staff, pilots, cabin crews among others.
The flights begin from Ahmedabad as its operating base on 2nd November 2006. The booking opens on 2nd September 2006 for flight nos DN 705, DN 706, DN668, and DN667 for travel from 2nd November 2006 onwards. And for flight nos DN737 & DN 738 for travel from 20th November 2006 onwards.
