Chennai: The Madras High Court today directed the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) to immediately cut power to all hoardings on an eight-kilometre stretch of the highway running parallel to the Chennai airport.
Passing interim orders on a petition filed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which claimed the bright lights on hoardings close to the airport were hindering visibility for pilots of aircraft, a division bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice K Chandru ordered cutting of power supply until further orders.
The court made it clear that no person would be allowed to use generators or any other means to illuminate the hoardings until further orders.
