New Delhi: In an attempt to make air travel disabled-friendly, the two-member Bench of the Delhi High Court has asked the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to furnish a list of airlines using the Delhi Airports by the next date of hearing. The list has been asked for to ascertain what facilities are being granted to passengers by these airlines and whether they had provisions of ambulift, which according to the AAI is vested with the airlines.
“Why not a meeting be called by the AAI with the airlines that use the airports at Delhi so as to evolve a policy for the airports in the country so that provision of ambulift and other facilities to the passengers can be made where the same are not available,” the Bench suggested.
This, the Judges noted, can be achieved by joint funding of the airlines and the AAI; taking into consideration their market share and the size of airlines.
