New Delhi: India may open up its skies for four months from November, allowing foreign carriers to increase flight frequencies or operate larger aircraft, to clear the rush of travellers during the coming festival season.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has moved a proposal to the Civil Aviation Ministry for its approval, official sources said here.
If approved, the open sky policy would remain effective from November this year till February next.
The proposal allows foreign carriers, already operating to India, to add to their passenger-carrying capacity by either introducing larger aircraft or additional frequencies.
