New Delhi/Mumbai: They say time is the best healer, but for those who have lost members of their families or friends to senseless acts of terrorism such as the Kanishka bombing of 1985, 22 years on there is still no closure.
Twenty-seven-year old Shyla, an airhostess on board the Air India Kanishka flight that was bombed in 1985 killing all 329 people on board, was identified with the help of a lock of hair.
For her mother, the last 22 years has been a journey from shock to indignation to frustration. Her only hope now is the public inquiry.
The Justice John Major Commission was constituted in June 2006 in Canada to suggest administrative and legislative measures to prevent failures in criminal investigation.
The petitioners also want a review of the existing terror laws in Canada. The depositions will begin in September and the commission's report is likely to be out by January 2007.
