Thiruvananthapuram: As a real boost for the airlines operating from the capital of the God's Own Country, Kerala's Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan on Saturday handed over 15 acres of land to Air India for setting up an aircraft maintenance unit.
Though the decision was taken by the former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy last year, its implementation was delayed due to various reasons.
After the completion of the dream project, it is expected that more aircraft of the 737-800 series, with a capacity of 181 economy seats, could be deployed here for the operations of Air-India Express to the Middle East.
