New Delhi: A Jet Airways aircraft returned to Delhi airport minutes after taking off from here on Thursday evening when its landing gear developed a snag. An airport spokesperson said the flight (9W 3703) took off for Bagdogra at 5.37 pm.
"After taking off, the plane had a problem with its landing gear and landed here safely at 5.55 pm," said the spokesperson. The plane was an ATR and had 57 passengers on board.
Sources said some of the plane's wheels were not retracting (folding inside the plane's belly) after take off. "As a precautionary measure, the pilot decided to return to Delhi. The safety of passengers was not at risk," said an official. A general alert was sounded at the airport when the plane landed just 18 minutes after taking off.
