The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today gave its approval to Airport Authority of India for undertaking the construction of New International Terminal Building at Trivandrum airport in two phases at an estimated cost of Rs.245.58 crores with a foreign exchange component of Rs.26.92 crores, to meet the projected growth in passenger traffic. The estimated cost of construction of phase-I of the project is Rs.165.58 crore and that of phase-II is Rs.80 crore.
Phase-I of the project is likely to be completed in 18 months from the date of award.
On completion of the project the capacity of the international terminal at Trivandrum airport in two phases, the peak hour passenger traffic will enhance to 800 arrivals and 800 departures. The existing international terminal building can cater to 260 arriving and 260 departing passengers.
