Oil company executives' strike may affect air services

New Delhi: More than 45,000 oil PSU executives of 12 oil companies seeking a pay rise have said that they will go on a strike from September 5.
As a result, stocks at petrol pumps will not be replenished and aircraft refueling may not take place.
But oil PSUs say they have contingency plans in place and no air services will be stalled.
"We have contingency plans in place. We have deployed additional personnel to fuel aircraft," said Sarthak Behuria, CMD, Indian Oil.
Even airline companies say there is no cause for panic.
"They cannot hold the country to ransom. Government should invoke essential services act," said Capt Gopinath, MD, Air Deccan.
"This is why private companies like Reliance and Shell should be allowed fuelling," Gopinath added.
