The mid-air collision was averted on Thursday, but Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel is on collision course with the Indian Air Force (IAF). He said on Friday that he would be taking up the matter with higher-ups in the IAF.
A major tragedy was averted when a Mumbai-Rajkot Jet Airways plane with 89 passengers on board swerved away from the path of a Sukhoi fighter in the nick of time on Thursday morning.
Patel also proposed a for common air space. “Though every flight is fitted with Traffic Collision Avoidance System, we are planning to introduce a common air space so that it would be known which flight is taking which route. This space can be shared by IAF planes also.”
