Kolkata: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is keen to hold talks with the West Bengal government by October-end to discuss modalities to be adopted in modernising the Kolkata airport, according to Civil Aviation Secretary Ajay Prasad.
The PM is also the chairman of the committee on infrastructure.
The West Bengal government, Prasad said, had officially communicated to the Union ministry three weeks ago that they want only the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to manage and do the modernisation work of the Kolkata airport, unlike the Delhi and
Mumbai airports, where the work is being carried out by private parties.
