Thiruvananthapuram: With Prime Minister Manmohan Singh scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the Rs.256.35-crores modern terminal for Thiruvananthapuram International Airport next month, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is busy completing the boundary wall on the 11.15 hectares of land handed over by the State Government.
Construction of the boundary wall on the land across the Parvathy Puthanar near Karali on the Vallakadavu-Chakka Road is over. Work along the Chakka-Airport Road is progressing as per schedule. "We hope to complete work on the Rs.50-lakh boundary wall before the month-end," Airport Director K. Natarajan told The Hindu .
The AAI, which was funding the project, would set up a special engineering wing to supervise the construction. The AAI short-listed eligible contractors through technical evaluation.
