Muscat: Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national airline, is planning to introduce flight operations to more Indian cities next year.
Kochi, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kolkatta are the new destinations under consideration. “If everything goes well, we may start operating regular flights to Kochi from next year, Raymond Korban, regional general manager of Etihad Airways (UAE and Oman) told the Times of Oman. Etihad had begun its Indian operations in September 2004, with its first scheduled flight between Abu Dhabi and Mumbai.
“At present, we operate flights to Mumbai and Delhi. The number of passengers flying between India and the UAE is on the rise.
“We have major plans for the Indian sector. Other than Kochi, the airline may consider adding Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram and Kolkata to its destinations in future,” Korban said.
