New Delhi: State-run Indian Airlines, Konkan Railways and Railtel are among 89 under-performing public sector companies that may be referred to the Board for Reconstruction of Public Enterprises (BRPSE) for examination.
The department of public enterprises has drawn up a list of the companies that require to be examined by the board. The list was prepared because only a handful of ministries had brought cases of under-performing PSUs in their administrative control to the BRPSE, official sources said.
The list was finalised based on the audited results for 2004-05 of these companies, sources said, adding many ministries had not sent even a single case though they had several that needed to be examined by the board.
The largest number of companies, 24, in the list is under the control of the department of heavy industry. The board has so far cleared revival packages for 35 companies, of which 18 are under the control of the department.
