Mumbai: In what could provide a major relief to low cost carriers (LCCs), Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), the joint venture between GVK-SA consortium and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), is contemplating a differential airport services tariff card for low cost carriers (LCC) and full service carriers.
The tariff rate would depend on the kind of facilities that an airline uses, providing LCCs an option to choose from the different services as per their business model.
A proposal for setting up the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) is likely to be introduced in the winter session of the Parliament.
The regulator would look into issues including levying service fee on passengers and determining tariffs at major ports.
