The Government on 23rd November 2006 approved the signing of the protocol amending the Air Services Agreement (ASA) between India and Switzerland.
The essential features of the amendment are:
Both countries shall now have the right to designate as many airlines as they wish
· Aviation safety and security clauses have also been added for revocation and suspension of operating authorization by either country
· Issues relating to Aviation Security, Aviation Safety and Tariffs have been redrafted as per model standard clauses.
· Now the designated airlines of both sides may use leased aircraft from any company including other airlines subject to stipulated Aviation Security and Safety provisions and according to its national laws and regulations.
The original ASA between the Government of India and the Government of Switzerland was signed on 19th June 1949. Subsequently a revised ASA was signed on 2nd May 2001.
