Umiam (Meghalaya) : Connectivity in the northeastern region will get top priority in the 11th Plan beginning from the next fiscal, Planning Commission deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia has said.
Hinting that the Northeast would benefit from some special incentives in the 11th Plan, Ahluwalia told a conference of the Indian Society of Agriculture Scientists at Umiam, 15 km from Meghalaya''s capital Shillong, yesterday that road, railways and airport connectivity in the region must be given "top priority".
He said except for connectivity, the region was not doing badly in other sectors.
