Govt. must review rule on new airlines flying abroad: Mallya

New Delhi: Kingfisher Airlines Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Mallya today asked the government to review the policy that bars new carriers from flying abroad for five years.
"If a scheduled airline can fly domestic destinations there is no case which can say the airline is unfit to fly abroad," he said here on the sidelines of the India Economic Summit.
He said his airlines has formally asked the government to lift the restriction.
Mallya also said Kingfisher has not ruled out the option of starting a full scale cargo service, as "we have licence for both passenger and cargo airlines".
Asked if Kingfisher Airlines would come out with an initial public offer, Mallya said there were no immediate plans.
