Chennai: Two Iranian teenagers and an Austrian were detained after they attempted to travel to Paris on forged passports, airport sources said on Saturday.
Mayer Herald (52), Nadir (17) and Fathelluah (15) had come to the city by a Kingfisher flight from Mumbai and had tried to board a Paris-bound Air France flight with forged Cyprus passports.
The sources said Herald had arrived in India in 2000 and had overstayed since the expiry of his passport in 2002. He had somehow managed to obtain a forged Cyprus passport, which also had a fake Indian visa stamp on it.
Nadir and Fathelluah, who did not have proper documents, had left Iran and Afghanistan respectively and wanted to go to Paris.
The duo came across Herald who managed to procure them forged Cyprus passports and fake Indian visas.
