Singapore: ST Engineering Ltd, the world’s top aircraft repair firm and Singapore’s main arms maker, said on Wednesday it is focusing on India as it expands its core businesses.
President and Chief Executive Tan Pheng Hock said the group, which also makes excavators, asphalt pavers, and other equipment used in construction projects was looking for potential acquisitions in India, which urgently needs to upgrade its infrastructure.
He added that the firm was also looking for Indian partners to market its electronics systems, which include intelligent building management, satellite-based communications and e-learning systems.
The top customers of ST Engineering’s aerospace business, which accounts for about 40 percent of total revenue, include United Parcel Service and Northwest Airlines. It has also won orders from low-fare carriers including Malaysia’s AirAsia and Jetstar Asia.
It competes for aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul contracts against TIMCO Aviation Services, Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering and Goodrich Aviation Technical Services of Goodrich Corp.
