The Wagle Estate police in Thane have arrested three persons, who used credit card numbers of customers to buy air tickets. The accused have been identified as a cashier at Globus Stores, Eternity Mall, Thane Dhananjay alias DJ Sadanand Shetty, a resident of Kisan Nagar, Wagle Estate, Shrikant Bhima Athawale, from Mulund and Sandip Harishchandra Kaneri, a Bhatwadi resident.
According to sources, the police received a complaint on November 11 from the ICICI Bank about credit cards of their customers being misused to purchase Kingfisher Airline tickets and other costly commodities. Bank officials also claimed that the credit-card holders had never made any transaction with the Kingfisher Airlines through the cards.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Kashinath Kachare told DNA, “Shetty used to note down the three digit number on the back of the credit card everytime a customer paid by card. The number was passed on to Athawale and then to Kaneri".
