Chennai: At airports, one's vehicle should be on its way out and into the car park within 90 seconds. If not, the tow vehicle swings into business.
But for the VIP cars occupying half the road, there are no rules. And at any point of time, there is always a long line of cars parked right next to the crowded waiting areas.
"Many of the VIP transport that occupy the first lane rather overstay sometimes, and the regular visitors, the airport passengers, they use only the second or third lane, which causes more congestion, R Vijay Bobby, Executive Director - Air Passengers Association of India.
In their effort to make the airport more secure, the police will look at better traffic management. But it is the VIP cars that need to be subjected to equal scrutiny.
The letter found at the Trichy Airport threatened to explode a car bomb - worryingly the VIP cars are never subjected to security checks.
