Dubai: Fake visas and travel documents have landed six men in trouble at Sharjah International Airport.
The Indians who arrived on tourist and visit visas a couple of days ago were stopped by the airport immigration authorities. The Indian consulate said the men would be deported immediately.
The fake visas were detected by immigration officials who immediately seized their passports. The men who arrived on an Indian Airlines flight from Kozikode and Kannur in Kerala, hold return tickets.
An airport immigration official told Gulf News the travel documents were not genuine and the men were not allowed to leave the airport.
Speaking to Gulf News, the men claimed they did not know the visas were fake. The men, who are mostly high school certificate holders, said that they had each paid Rs150,000 (about Dh12,366) to their agent in India.
