Emphasing on the growth numbers of the Indian aviation sector, Praful Patel, minister for civil aviation said that while there was 45% growth in the domestic sector, the growth in the international sector was upwards of 20%.
The key challenge faced by the aviation industry is in the area of infrastructure- both physical infrastructure and trained manpower. The other issues looming large are the poor margins on account of high ATF prices and expansion of revenues and market share.
The issues that arrested everyone`s attention were the improvement of ground services by airlines in Indian airports and in foreign airports, disturbance of schedules of Air India due to VIP movement, delays in completion of airports and increasing connectivity.
