New Delhi: Kingfisher Airlines has become the first private airline in India to receive a certification to operate its flights in poor visibility using the sophisticated Autoland Systems in the highest Category IIIA instrument landing system.
Since every single Airbus aircraft in the airline’s fleet is equipped with Autoland Systems capable of executing Category IIIA landings, all Kingfisher Airlines flights operating into and out of fog-affected cities, such as New Delhi, are capable of landing and taking off in fog and consequent poor visibility, an airline release today said.
A Category IIIA approach allows an aircraft to land with runway visibility as little as 200 metres and a minimum decision height of 50 feet using Autoland Systems.
