New Delhi: The privatisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports and the joint acquisition of Petro-Canada`s Syrian assets by ONGC Videsh and China National Petroleum (CNPC) have been listed among the ten most outstanding deals of 2006 in Asia, by the CFO Asia magazine.
The economist group magazine said in the cover story of its latest edition that transferring control of state assets to private, especially foreign hands, has never appealed to popular sentiment, but the success of the privatisation exercise has given India a model for future public-private partnerships.
About the OVL deal, the magazine said it was the first of what could be numerous opportunities for India and China to work together and fuel their growth on friendlier terms.
