Youngest commercial pilot on cloud nine

Chandigarh: The flying demand for commercial pilots is the country has come as a boon for Japji Cheema.
All of 18, she is perhaps the youngest commercial pilot in the country. While studying at Sacred Heart Convent, Sector 26, Chandigarh, she always dreamt of becoming a pilot.
She claims at present she has offers from three different airlines, one of which she will be joining after clearing her DGCA exam and is expecting a minimum package of Rs 1.7 lakh per month.
However, she also plans to do B.Sc (Aviation) from Bombay University along with her flying career.
After completing her class XII in non-medical stream, she and her father searched the Internet about different schools which offered such courses. Her first choice was American School of Aviation in the US, where she was only for two-and-a-half months because the training offered there was not up to the mark and they didn’t have many planes as well. Later, she joined Mazzei Flying Service, School of Aeronautics, California, where she completed her flying training in just five months and ten days. There, she got her private pilot licence (PPL) in two months and after three months, she got her commercial pilot licence (CPL).
