21 deported Indians held

Mumbai: The Sahar police, on Monday evening, arrested 21 Indians who were deported from Muscat because they were carrying forged visas. Having gone to Muscat with the intention of taking up new jobs there, all the deportees have been booked for forgery and cheating. The police, who believe they have also unearthed a job racket, are now on the lookout for the agents who arranged the bogus visas for the group.
“A total of 21 Indians, between the age group of 22 to 30, left for Muscat from Mumbai on January 13 by an Air India flight. However, on landing at Muscat, the immigration authorities discovered the employment visas that all of them were carrying, were forged. The entire group was deported to Mumbai last evening by an Air India flight. They have been taken into custody and booked for forgery and cheating,” said Senior Police Inspector Chandrahas Chauhan of the Sahar police station.
According to police, the deported Indians are from Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
