Malaysia's AirAsia has declined to comment on a media report that the budget carrier is considering an alliance with Britain's easyJet and the Virgin group.
"No comment,'' AirAsia chief executive Tony Fernandes said by telephone, when asked about the report in the Monday edition of The Star newspaper.
Quoting unidentified sources, the newspaper said the three airlines were in talks to form a global no-frills alliance that would offer cheap flights within Asia as well between Europe to Australia via Kuala Lumpur. (It was also reported that India would be one of the first destinations).
A spokesman for easyJet said the British low-cost airline had not discussed any such alliance with AirAsia.
A Virgin spokesman refused to deny Virgin Atlantic has held talks with AirAsia.
UK newspaper reports said representatives of AirAsia were believed to be flying to London this week.
