Fog grounds flights, passengers stranded

New Delhi: The dense fog that Delhi woke up to for the second day running on Tuesday has now lifted slightly.
Runway visibility at the Capital's Indira Gandhi airport has gone up to around 1050 metres allowing a few Indian Airlines flights to take off.

43 domestic, 14 international
flights diverted from Delhi

New Delhi: As many as 43 domestic and 14
international flights have been diverted from
Delhi since 31 December evening due to poor
visibility owing to the thick fog enveloping the
capital for the past few days.
Air Traffic at Delhi's domestic and international
airports which had been disrupted in a major
way since New Year's eve continued to worsen
for the second day today.
As per sources, only one domestic arrival and
four departures have taken place since the
break of day.

But the immense backlog from Monday night and early morning today is still crippling services.
Several flights have been cancelled and almost all flights have been rescheduled.
With enormous flight delays on the first day of 2007 the airport is already coping with a huge backlog of flights. Thousands of passengers are stranded at the Delhi airport.
