Fraud may occur during e-bookings: Airlines

Mumbai : Mumbai resident Chandni Parekh's HSBC Premier credit card was used to purchase 13 airline tickets worth Rs 85,676.49 without her knowledge. She did not lose her card, which was with her during the time the fraudulent transactions were taking place.
Two transactions worth Rs 20,901.56, which were under way when the bank discovered the fraud, were cancelled. Seven of the 13 transactions have been traced back to the airlines. Four tickets were bought from SpiceJet, two from Go Airlines and one from Air Deccan. Other transactions have not yet been traced.
It took Parekh five hours to register an FIR at Mulund police station on Sunday.
"The credit card system is flawed, as it is easy for anyone to copy the credit card number and CVV number off a card while a customer is shopping," said Ajay Jasra, in charge of corporate communications with SpiceJet.
Air Deccan authorities agree it's possible for fraudulent transactions to occur during e-bookings.
