New Delhi: Integrating the human resources still remains the stumbling block in the proposed merger of state-owned carriers Air-India and Indian Airlines. The empowered group of ministers (EGoM) on Monday has again directed the civil aviation ministry to discuss employee-related issues with the two airlines. “The EGoM has broadly decided that the employee issue should be dealt with very carefully to avoid any cause of unhappiness among the staff,” civil aviation minister Praful Patel said.
“There are three issues: taxation, stamp duty and HR. Recommendations by the committee of secretaries (CoS) on taxation and stamp duty were accepted. On HR too, they were broadly accepted but the GoM advised me to speak to the representatives of employees,” Patel said. He said the EGoM was expected to meet again before the month end.
