A-I denies role in Wadia release

New Delhi: Officials of Air India's Dubai office have dismissed reports that it intervened with airport security officials in Dubai to get textile magnate Nusli Wadiathe released.
GoAir and Bombay Dyeing Chairman Nusli Wadia was detained at the Dubai Airport on January 13 for carrying an undeclared pistol which had escaped security screening at Mumbai airport.
Wadia carried the pistol and 30 cartridges aboard Air India flight 717, flying from Mumbai to Dubai, without declaring it to the airline or Customs officials.
Wadia was detained and questioned for three hours in Dubai and was released after he showed his arms licence.
An Air India official quoted in Dubai press said it was highly improbable that Dubai airport security would heed an airline official's argument to release anyone in such a predicament.
