Dubai: Passengers on a flight from Thiruvanathapuram in the southern Indian state of Kerala to Dubai were disembarked on Monday after a knife was discovered in an overhead luggage compartment.
A passenger on flight EK 523 told Gulf News that all the baggage underwent a thorough re-check after the knife was found.
"We had to undergo the re-screening process all over again. It was a small knife that was discovered in an overhead luggage compartment by a passenger," he said.
Another passenger said: "The knife was discovered while one of the passengers was adjusting his luggage to make more space in the overhead luggage compartment. It looked like a small knife. It was handed over to the cabin crew who then handed it over to the flight captain."
An official statement by Emirates airline headquarters in Dubai said all precautionary measures were immediately taken when a sharp metal object was found on flight EK 523, scheduled to depart Thiruvananthapuram airport at 4.30am on Monday.
