Pune: The much-needed runway resurfacing of the Lohegaon airport is on track with the Indian Air Force (IAF) confident of finishing work within six months after it starts by July this year. There will be disruption of civil traffic with only a limited number of daily operations continuing till the resurfacing is over.
The IAF is also trying to coordinate its efforts with the Airports Authorities of India (AAI) for the construction of a parallel taxi track to facilitate faster landing and take off operations.
The absence of a taxi track causes aircraft to occupy the runway longer and limits the number of flights.
