Aizawl: The lone airport in Mizoram at Lengpui near here would soon have cargo handling facilities to enable export of agriculture and horticulture produces and also import electronic goods and garments from Kolkata and elsewhere, State Civil Aviation officials said.
Wing Commander (Retd.) Joe Lalhmingliana, State Civil Aviation Officer on special duty told PTI that a survey had been undertaken to gauge the quantum of comodities to be exported and imported through cargo flights.
He expressed the hope that the cargo facility would ensure cheaper and faster transport of easily perishable commodities from the state to Kolkata, the nearest metro and business centre.
