New Delhi: A new taxiway for a landing aircraft to rapidly exit the runway, even in foggy condition, was commissioned at the IGI Airport here on Thursday.
The taxiway, which meets low visibility requirements for Category-III operations on the instrument landing system, would improve the capacity of the airport to handle aircraft allowing them a shorter travel time from the runway to the parking bays, a spokesman for the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said.
The rapid exit of planes out of the main runway, 10-28, would also allow handling of more aircraft per hour.
