Bhubaneswar: Orissa Government is likely to take action against some police officials after Director General of Police Amarananda Pattanayak admitted that lapses in the security arrangements led to manhandling of coach Greg Chappell at Bhubaneswar airport on January 22.
The DGP, who inquired into the incident on the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, owned moral responsibility for the lapses and said all steps will be taken not to allow such lapses in future. He submitted the findings of his inquiry to the Chief Minister on Wednesday.
Deputy Inspector General Y B Khurania and Khurda Superintendent of Police Amitav Thakur were on overall charge of security arrangements at the airport when India and West Indies cricket teams arrived at the airport.
