Suvarnabhumi Airport Fails to Receive Safety Certificate

Bangkok: The Department of Civil Aviation, today refused Suvarnabhumi's Airport application for permanent international safety certificate.
On yesterday, officials said there were about a hundred cracks in taxiways, runways and tarmacs which could disrupt air traffic as damaged sections are repaired.
As the 6 months old interim and original cerficate issued by the Department of Civil Aviation is due to expire on today. Authorities despite a hard work trying to repear/fix cracks scattered on approximately among a 100,000 square meter perimeter got a "NO" for a permanent safety certificate.
Such certificate is not technically mandatory for the airport to remain open, therefore the $4 billion airport will continue to serve the public transportation.
The airport is the main hub for Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways and the secondary hub for China Airlines and one of a majors hub for Air India, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Emirates, EVA Air, Indian Airlines, Lufthansa and SriLankan Airlines.
