UK-based aircraft distributor Action Aviation is to set up shop in Bangalore. The company , which already has a major presence in the UAE, would unveil its sales & marketing office in the city within the next one month, followed by offices in Mumbai and Delhi by early 2008.
The company is understood to be in talks to acquire property close to the international airport.
Action Aviation has, over a period of two years, paid non-refundable deposits to acquire 159 Sino Swearingen SJ30 business jets, 30 MD helicopters (manufactured by MD Helicopters of Mesa, Arizona, a subsidiary of the Netherlands-based MD Helicopters) and 40 ATG Javelin personal jets - the combined order worth $1.2 billion.
In India, a bulk of the $60-million would come from the sale of MD Helicopters , while the balance would come from the sale of the SJ30 business jets. Action Aviation already has confirmed orders for three MD helicopters - two being bought by airtaxi operators and the third by a leading business house, said Mr Harding but did not divulge the names of his customers.
