Bangalore: Trail operations are expected to commence at the country’s first private sector greenfield Bangalore international airport coming up at Devanahalli are expected to commence by the year-end.
Karnataka’s deputy chief minister cum finance minister B S Yediyurappa, who held a meeting with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) Albert Brunner along with other top government officials to review the progress, expressed optimism that the entire construction work is expected to be completed well before December for starting trial operations.
The government was prepared to favourably consider BIAL’s request for grant of relief on the levy of special entry tax on the project, Yediyurappa said after his meeting with BIAL top brass.
BIAL had sought exemption from the levy of special entry tax for the initial one or two years or at least defer collection in order to minimise the financial burden during the construction period.
