Boeing has appointed island-born Ian Thomas as president of operations in India, where aerospace firms are positioning themselves in a more-than $7 billion military aircraft market.
Thomas, 41, is the son of Galveston Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas.
Thomas is based in New Delhi, where he’s charged with strengthening Boeing’s presence and pursuing growth and productivity initiatives.
Thomas joined Boeing in 2001.
Prior to this appointment, Thomas, served as vice president for Boeing’s Integrated Defense Systems in Europe. He was the senior director for the region and led all efforts to secure new business.
From 2002 to 2005, he served as vice president of UK Business Development, leading Boeing’s defense activities in the United Kingdom. Prior to that, Thomas served as director of International Policy for Boeing’s Military Aircraft and Missile Systems in St. Louis, Mo.
