An Emirates flight from Dubai carrying 252 passengers landed safely in the Indian city of Kolkata yesterday despite a bird hitting an engine, an official said.
“The right-side engine was hit by a bird while it was landing,” Uttiya Madhuri, an Emirates official said. “The plane landed safely at about 8.20 in the morning.”
The accident delayed the flight’s arrival from the UAE by only 40 minutes, but the return had to be postponed several hours.
“Engineers found evidence that the bird was sucked into the right-side engine. The damage was not so serious. It has been repaired and the plane is ready for take-off,” Madhuri said.
