Mumbai: The global race for the three-year contract to run duty free outlets at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) is almost over, with Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) shortlisting five bidders.
Nuance Group and Shopper’s Stop, Alpha Airports and Pantaloon Retail, DFS Group (Singapore), Dufry and Interglobe and the incumbent India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) that has partnered with Spanish retailer Aldeasa are those shortlisted for the financial bids, which close on February 23.
Five other international players, who bid but didn’t qualify the technical round, include Flemingo India and Aer Rianta International (Dublin), Bird Group and Aelia (France), Out of Africa (South Africa) and King Power Group (Hong Kong), UK-based Crossbar Associates, and the Malaysian Valiram Group. Gebr Heinemann and the Oberoi Group had sent an expression of interest when the tenders were floated in October, but later pulled out of the race on technical grounds.
