Bangalore: Former BPL Mobile owner Rajiv Chandrasekhar is set to enter the aviation sector.
The 42-year old former Intel techie who pocketed around Rs 1,100 crore by selling his company to Hutch-Essar is said to be finalising his plans for setting up a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Bangalore.
According to sources, Chandrasekhar spent considerable amount of time with civil aviation minister Praful Patel on Thursday and could announce his plans before the curtains fall on the Aero India show.
When contacted, Sanjay Prabhu, chief operating officer of Jupiter Capital, Chandrasekhar's investment vehicle, confirmed that an announcement is in the offing.
While it is not clear who he may partner in the venture, it is learnt that he is extremely keen to sink his teeth into the MRO sector which is being touted as a hot new business opportunity.
