Chennai: Seven contract employees of the Chennai airport were arrested for pilfering with baggage of air passengers to the tune of Rs 5 lakh.
Police arrested the seven yesterday, based on complaints from passengers of both international and domestic flights that their baggage had been pilfered with when it reached the passenger check-belt.
With such complaints recurring over the past one month, a special police team kept a watch on the seven and caught them red-handed while stealing electronic goods and jewellery from a baggage, sources said.
