SU 30 makes precautionary landing at Lohegaon

Pune: A SU 30 MKI of the Indian Air Force (IAF) made a precautionary landing at the Lohegaon airbase on Friday afternoon, disrupting civilian traffic for nearly two hours. The two-seat multi-role fighter made the landing at around 1.30 pm after the pilots suspected a snag in the aircraft during flight.
While there were reports that an aircraft had made an emergency landing at the airport, IAF sources confirmed that there was no damage to the aircraft and the landing was on a purely precautionary basis.
According to unconfirmed reports, the precautionary landing was carried out as the pilots suspected a snag in the brake parachute of the aircraft.
Several civilian flights like Jet Airways, Air Deccan, Indian and Spice Jet, had to be diverted and were delayed for over two hours. Airport Authorities confirmed that the Air Traffic Control, manned by the IAF, diverted the flights and told them the runway was unavailable for two hours.
