PM clears the air on Karipur

Kozhikode: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has assured a delegation from Kerala that he will look into the issues plaguing the Karipur Airport.
The delegation led by Union Minister of State for External Affairs E.Ahamed and IUML state secretary M.K. Muneer met the Prime Minister in New Delhi on Thursday to apprise him of the inconvenience faced by the people of Malabar due to the constant cancellations of flights.
"The Prime Minister gave us a patient hearing and was very positive. We recounted our personal experience. He said the interests of the people should be given top priority," Muneer told this website's newspaper over phone from New Delhi.
The delegation also met Dr. K. Ramalingam, the chairman of the Airports Authority of India. Muneer said the chairman said there is no problem in the Karipur Airport for the landing of international flights.
The chairman told the delegation that it is up to the Air India, Indian Airlines and the Civil Aviation Department to decide on the issue of allowing more international flights of private companies.
