Chandigarh: Punjab Cabinet on Wednesday gave its formal approval to the setting up of an international airport at Mohali.
A spokesman of the Punjab government said that the Cabinet also approved the memorandum of understanding (MoU) to be signed between the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) on Friday.
The spokesman said the Home Department would provide peripheral security and anti-hijacking squad for the airport. All the notifications for acquisition of land would be issued by the Department of Civil Aviation.
